Tap into a US $106bn infrastructure projects plan

Egypt is located on the main trade route between Asia and Europe and has rich natural resources.

The country is in the process of developing its infrastructure capable of taking full advantage of its riches with new energy and transport systems, and handling the rapid growing population.

The government has identified infrastructure as a top priority.

Upcoming infrastructure projects in Egypt

Cairo Metro Line, Purchase of trains

Cairo Metro is designed to address some of Cairo's stifling traffic problems by alleviating congestion and improving regulation. Specifically, the Project will increase the capacity of Cairo Metro Line II as more trains will become available for passenger transport and the fleet availability will improve from 79 percent to 88 per cent, ultimately increasing daily ridership capacity by around 23 per cent.

This increase will be sustained through a modal shift towards the metro system which to date remains largely underutilized.

Kitchener Drain Depollution – Solid Waste

The Kitchener Drain is one of the most severely polluted drains in Egypt causing significant environmental, economic and social harm. It extends 69 km and passes through the governorates of Kafr El Sheikh ("KES"), Gharbeya ("GHB") and Dakahleya ("DKH") and discharges into the Mediterranean Sea. The integrated program will be the first program in Egypt testing a new cross-sectoral approach that will support the depollution of the Mediterranean Sea and improve the health and environmental situation of the people living in the drain catchment area as well as strengthen the economy by improving the irrigation water quality in the three governorates.
